Along with our writer's workshop, book clubs, and math class, we are excited to provide new STEM courses that your learners are going to love! We group the incoming kindergarten and 1st grade students, which gives the 1st grade students a chance to show some leadership with our youngest learners. This summer we are planning learning around animal adventures, outdoor adventures, and science exploration. At registration you will be asked to rank the STEM sessions, which helps us to plan for learning that is most exciting to our learners. See the options below to learn more about what we have to offer at Experience Academy.
Did you know that there are picture books that can teach us about STEM? This session will combine the study of science and literacy into one fun class! We will learn more about the world around us through the following books:
- Boxitects by Kim Smith
- Why Should I Walk? I Can Fly! by Ann Ingells
- Emma Ren Robot Engineer by Jenny Lu
- The Plan for the Gingerbread House by Darcy Pattison
We will use these books as inspiration for architecture, paleontology, engineering, orthology, energy, and more!
Welcome to our science lab where campers channel their inner scientists while conducting a variety of experiments that will amaze and astound! Science inquiries will allow campers to explore chemical reactions, properties of polymers, non-Newtonian solutions, and much more. Campers will be introduced to science inquiry and reasoning to explain the science behind the experiments. Mathematic activities involve campers working with measurements and collecting data.
Did you know that we live in an ecosystem? There are so many things in our ecosystem that affect the world around us. In this session we will explore bugs, birds, plants, leaves, and a multitude of other things that show up in the world around us. Within this session, we will create a scientific journal, where we can capture our observations and take note of what we have learned.
What happens when curious minds ask big questions? Big learning begins! In our Big Questions session scholars explore the world around them by asking simple, meaningful questions like How do things move?, What makes something strong?, and Why do things float or sink? Designed especially for early learners, the Big Questions theme emphasizes exploration over right answers, helping children build confidence as they test ideas, make predictions, and discover new ways of thinking. Campers will read, build, explore, and experiment—turning wonder into learning every day. Through hands-on experiments, building challenges, and guided play, students think like young scientists and engineers while having fun. Each activity encourages curiosity, creativity, teamwork, and problem-solving in a supportive, environment.
